Shatavari is rich in saponins which are similar to hormones produced by women and is thus highly beneficial to treat abnormal hormonal levels often experienced by women during menstruation. Shatavari contains sterols that stabilise female hormone levels and asparagine that is also analogous to hormones produced by the female body. Shatavari regulates the cardiovascular system to benefit heart and circulatory function and is rich in bioflavonoids which are a natural antioxidant. Shatavari relieves the pain associated with menstruation abnormalities such as involuntary uterine and intestinal spasms and boosts female fertility and lactation.
Dosage: It is strongly recommended to use Satavari Churan under the direction of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. Take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon (3-10 g) per day. Do not consume more than 3 g in a single dose. Consume 30 minutes before meals with milk or plant-based milk substitute with added honey or unrefined sugar.
A decoction of Satavari Churan can be prepared by adding powder to boiling milk or plant based milk substitute or water and allowed to cool before consuming. This decoction should be consumed before meals and use should be prolonged for 3 weeks then use should be stopped for 10 days and then consumed again for a further 3 weeks. This cycle should be repeated in this manner.
Satavari Churan can be mixed with saffron and milk or plant based milk substitute and butter or ghee to aid normal breast function after giving birth.
Contraindications: avoid use if experiencing increased toxicity of the blood and intestinal tract.
